The Riverside Sport Hall of Fame is a not-for-profit institution dedicated to fostering an appreciation for the role that sports and its participants play in providing a necessary and valuable component to the quality of life within the Riverside Community. The Hall of Fame was created to honor those athletes, coaches, athletic administrators and community leaders who have brought fame and honor to the City of Riverside through participation in their chosen sport. Inductees into the Hall of Fame must have had an affiliation with the City of Riverside during his or her career. In addition, an athlete cannot be considered for selection until he or she has been retired for a period of at least three years. However, coaches, athletic administrators, community leaders and seniors or Masters athletes may be considered even though they are still active participants.Through its Mission, the Hall of Fame is Committed to:
- Maintain recognition of a broad range of sports activities.
- Honor by enshrinement, those individuals and/or teams who have had exceptional careers.
- Exhibit commemorative plaques of inductees in a permanent space.
- Sponsor an annual banquet for the purpose of honoring new and past inductees into the Hall of Fame.
- Cause to be distributed informative and promotional materials regarding the Hall of Fame to institutions, media outlets and the general public.
- Maintain fiscal integrity and accountability as an organization.
